The late Henry Cohen was my first cousin, his mother and my mother very close sisters. Our families lived in the same street.
I\’d love to speak to someone about the Hackney we knew and grew up in!

Dear Iain
I hope all’s well. I’m editing the New Collected Poems of Lee Harwood with Robert Sheppard for Shearsman. The new edition will include new work not included in the 2004 edition. The book will be launched on 10 January at the Swedenborg Hall. I wonder if you would be prepared to write a blurb for the book? Whether or not I hope you can make the launch and if you can perhaps you would like to read a poem by Lee? The plan is that we have a dozen or so readers read a poem by Lee and then we sell lots of books. We’ll see. There are further details here https://www.shearsman.com/store/Lee-Harwood-New-Collected-Poems-p466630971 Keep well and best wishes. Kelvin
My name is Sam Hickford. I’m a journalist, poet, and PhD student at the University of St. Andrews.
I am hoping to get in touch with Iain regarding a PhD thesis I’m working on, regarding the influence of John Clare on contemporary poetry. I’m currently writing a chapter on Sinclair and some of the concepts that became important to him, such as ‘enclosure’, and how they might be influenced by Clare. I have found, for example, ‘Glinton Spire’ in Out There, and poems based on Stamford and Northampton. I would like to discuss the compositional methods of these poems with Sinclair. I hope you are able to pass this e-mail on and I look forward to your response.
Regards and peace,
Sam.
Many, many thanks to “The Guy” who has given us this site and its wondrous content. I have been attentive to Mr Sinclair since the 1970s (being just two years younger than he) and have, somewhere among my collection, an original copy of “Lud Heat”, which must be exceptionally rare. Having found your site, I shall return often and follow it evolution.
Did Sinclair likewise attend Gombrich’s seminar at the Warburg in the spring of 1965? I recently discovered that Martin Kemp also did but Dawn Ades did not. Then-wife and I had a double Fulbright. Mine was the King’s London that, after seeing, discouraged me. Her was to the Courtauld whose chief, likewise a Blakist, was otherwise preoccupied that academic year.
