Iain Sinclair’s Doves Typeface: Launch Event @ South Bank

September 2 @ 20:00 - 23:00 BST

Join us for a premiere of a new film and poster publication by the legendary London writer, formed from a typeface excavated from the riverbed of the Thames.

Sinclair is in discussion with printer Robert Green and novelist, poet and artist Brian Catling.

This new project is based on the walks that TJ Cobden-Sanderson took in 1917 to discard the metal moulds, or matrices, of the Doves typeface from Hammersmith Bridge following a dispute with his business partner.

In 2015, parts of the typeface were found and excavated by printer Robert Green who has worked on the new publication of Sinclair’s texts, written using only the 150 letters found on the bed of the Thames.
