THE LIBERATED FILM CLUB THIS JULY AT CLOSE-UP CINEMA

This programme leaves everything to the imagination. Lost, banned and forgotten films you can’t see anywhere else and you won’t see again.
No film titles announced in advance. Each film introduced by a special guest speaker who also won’t know what’s being shown.
The Liberated Film Master sort of knows, and will send informative dispatches unique to each event, as conscientious objector to the darkening island.

Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout July.

Friday 1st July
THE FACE ON THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR (APPROPRIATE EVERYTHING DOUBLE-BILL)

A suitably misleading preview of the month to come, introduced by artist and filmmaker SHEZAD DAWOOD, and series curator SCHTINTER.

1. “If a bush can say: I am the Truth, so can a man.” An experiment in disappearance and smear: Mordant Music’s birthday present to Iain Sinclair.
2. “The past remains present to the future: the future is already present to the past.” If Jack Nicholson’s great undoing at The Overlook Hotel had been recorded on LSD in 3D by HAL 9000 of Space Odyssey fame. Complimentary 3D glasses.

Saturday 2nd July
CLOSE-UP FIRST ANNIVERSARY: ALL-NIGHT PARTY AND SHORT FILM PROGRAMME

When I am Open I am the Party. When I am Closed I am not the Party.

Sunday 3rd July
MUSEUM OF LONELINESS AND THE CARIBBEAN MYSTERY

CHRIS PETIT presents an evening of his re-forgotten film work. The director’s diverse and enigmatic career summarised and short-circuited in a programme best described as: Radio On as YouTube virus starring Donald Pleasence and Paula Yates.

Copies of Petit’s recent purge.xxx releases: in conversation with the notorious British crime writer, Derek Raymond, and in collaboration with Mordant Music, will be available at the event.
