Not On Safari In Harlesden [blog - webmaster picks]

Not On Safari In Harlesden – roserouse.wordpress.com – is journalist and writer, Rose Rouse (3 non-fiction books including Last Letters To Loved Ones Metro 2008) is having an adventure on her doorstep and exploring Harlesden with everyone from Louis Theroux to Alexei Sayle, novelist Monique Roffey to anti gun crime activist, Michael Saunders, gas meter reader/poet, Sue Saunders to ex local MP, Dawn Butler and many more. She’s often seen to be having lively debates on the streets of Harlesden. Part urban anthropology, part memoir, part happenings, she has been on over 30 walks and has a column in the local paper, the Brent and Kilburn Times. She has also made a short film, Dance Willesden Junction, where she and 8 friends in red, dance the bleak walkways of the station and see if they can find beauty there…Filmed by her son, Marlon and his girlfriend, Tania, it’s warm, funny and tender. Watch out for the high visibility maintenance man who gets down to Al Green…
